Location

A stimulating environment where Exmoor meets the coast

The Beacon Youth Centre
With a vista of deep blue sea, rugged beaches and lush green valleys, The Beacon is set in 280 acres on the Lee Abbey estate within Exmoor National Park. The centre overlooks our own private beach, where the rolling moorland changes dramatically to wooded valleys which sweep down to the sea.

The Beacon is surrounded by an abundance of wildlife, trees and plants and is approached through the dramatic setting of the Valley of Rocks - home to one of the oldest herds of feral goats in the country.

Nearby Lynmouth has a tiny harbour with white-washed thatched cottages in a spectacular location, known as 'Little Switzerland'.

Abundant wildlife

With such a wide variety of habitats, including ancient woodland, waterfalls, pasture and recently-renovated ponds, it is not surprising that the estate is host to such a wide variety of animals, including red deer, badgers, foxes, stoats and three species of bats!

We also have a large range of birds including buzzards, owls and nesting peregrine falcons on the cliffs. On the estate we have our own working farm with sheep and a herd of beautiful Devon Red cattle.

Plus a host of indoor and outdoor facilities

See Activities to find out about our Low Ropes course, sports field, tennis courts, climbing wall, sports hall and more!
